Adventures in Art – Part 3

This is the third in an occasional series about my return to art after fifteen years’ absence.

This week, I decided to begin exploring a new style: the style of the Arts & Crafts Movement, specifically William Morris. I bought a book of Morris patterns and inkings, as well as two bottles of Higgins Black Magic ink and cold-pressed watercolor paper. Initially I intended to use pens but found I really like brushes much better.

Above is my first attempt at Morris-style lettering and drawing. Below, some of the inspiration. (The word “dimension” by the way is one of my new favorite artistic words. Excited to explore it more!)

Enjoy Part 1 and Part 2 of “Adventures in Art.”
