Alethia Grey – Episode 1

Today marks the beginning of my first-ever serialized graphic novel. In addition to this special three-page episode, you can also read the prequel episodes. Finally, at the bottom of the page you’ll find some historical facts that inspired the fiction! To enlarge any image, simply click on it.

Historical Notes:

AsylumThe Ellis-Merton Asylum is modeled on the Milwaukee Soldiers Home. I used to work near this magnificent yet creepy old building and passed it daily on my lunchtime walks.

Special Agent Morse arrives in a hansom cab, a popular mode of transportation in the late 1880s to early 1890s.

  1. Very intriguing premise and beginning. The art style suits what i can only assume at this point will be the somewhat somber and melancholic moodscape blanketing the story you’re about to tell. That is pure conjecture on my part though. Either way, I’m looking forward to whatever comes next!

    • Thank you! And it sounds like you are on the right track … so I’m glad to see the art conveyed the appropriate mood. After all, what better way to tell a story about SHADES of truth than in graphite pencil? 😉
